Last night channel five showed a programme about London’s famous Ugly Modelling agency. The show set out to show that the world of modelling is not always a popularity competition and sometimes about having fun, not just for the most beautiful people in the world. What it instead did was simply highlight how pretentious and insensitive the whole industry is. Utterly disgraceful in my opinion. It was a step back to the Victorian vaudevillian days of freak shows and circus, laughing at ‘odd’ people and taunting them for our own amusements, whilst even turning some of the models into the very divas they wished to condemn.
